New Delhi: Farmers in India have intensified their protest against the controversial agricultural laws introduced by the Modi government. According to MsunTV News, farmers in India entered in a decisive phase of protest against the controversial agricultural policies of the Modi government. After another round of talks between the federal government and the farmers' representatives failed, the farmers have announced to intensify their protests.

According to Indian media, the farmers' leaders announced a hunger strike from December 14, while thousands of farmers across India have announced a "Let's go to Delhi" movement from Sunday. Frightened by the growing intensity of convoys and demonstrations from various states of India, the administration has deployed heavy contingents of police at the entrances to the capital, while farmers already on sit-in in Delhi.

On the other hand, the scope of protests against agricultural laws is widening and farmers have taken control of toll plazas on Uttar Pradesh's highways and stopped collecting taxes from vehicles. The highway from Delhi to Jaipur and Agra was also closed with tractors.

It is to be noted that dozens of farmers' unions and their thousands of representatives in India have been staging sit-ins in and around Delhi for the last three weeks against the overnight approval of the Agriculture Amendment Bills passed by the Modi government. Farmers said that Modi government has introduced agricultural laws to reward its investor friends and backers, which will darken the future of small farmers.

Other countries around the world have also expressed solidarity with farmers, including the United Kingdom and Canada. The Prime Minister of Canada also issued a formal statement in support of the farmers, which the Indian government called an interference in internal affairs, but Justin Trudeau stood by the farmers.
