Urgent WhatsApp warning: Scam WhatsApp messages users told to delete

 

Two billion WhatsApp users worldwide have been issued an instant warning to delete their phones immediately.

A scam message appearing as WhatsApp support is circulating on the popular messaging platform which is trying to persuade users to reveal their personal details.

The warning comes from the WhatsApp blog WABetaInfo, which urges app users to be careful when using the service.

WhatsApp Instant Warning is about when you are chatting with a verified account.

When using a WhatsApp verified account, the chat screen will have a verified badge with the contact's name. This does not happen in the messages received from the WhatsApp scam account and users are being urged to be careful as the fake account is trying to get personal details.

WABetaInfo says WhatsApp will never ask for details like your two-step verification details credit card.

What to do if you receive a WhatsApp scam message.

WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is urging users to delete any messages from such accounts and block the number immediately.

Never pass sensitive information to them when indicated, even to friends and family. Always check people's identities if in doubt.
