The ASUS ASUS_AI2201_B variant of the Asus ROG Phone 6 has
received TENAA certification. Although we are unsure if this is the standard
phone or the Pro, it validated several of the crucial specifications. It is
most likely the Pro model given the memory setup.
The phone has
almost the same measurements as the ROG Phone 5/5
Pro at 172.8 x 77.3 x 10.4mm. Unfortunately, there are currently no photographs
attached and only a White colorway is listed. The new mode has managed to
reduce weight slightly while maintaining its size, coming in at 229g (all
5-series models weighed 238g).
6.78" AMOLED display
and a 6,000mAh
battery with two separate cells are housed inside the body (65W as before, confirmed by the 3C). A charger, USB cable, and a protective
case are included in the retail packaging (at least for China).
One of the
first smartphones to use the Snapdragon
8+ Gen 1 is the ROG
Phone 6, which Asus has already bragged about. According to TENAA information,
it will have up to 512GB of storage and up to 18GB of RAM. Similar setups have been seen before, for example, the
ROG Phone 5 Ultimate and 5s Pro had that much memory.
According to
the specifications, the primary camera on the rear would feature a resolution
of 64MP. Additionally, a 5x optical zoom is mentioned, but because
the ROG series was never camera-focused, it's possible that this is a mistake
or mistranslation. Although we wouldn't reject a periscope, we do not believe
it is likely.
Nevertheless, there are 4 cameras in total, including a 12MP selfie camera, on board. The other two will likely be a macro module and an ultra-wide camera if we had to guess.
Except for the
new chipset, it doesn't seem like anything has changed since the 5-series. The
TENAA spec sheet, however, isn't intended for consumers and may overlook crucial
information.
What about the
screen refresh rate, for instance? The last two generations of Asus panels have
been 144Hz, however there are reports that this year they may
increase to 165Hz. Although it hasn't been confirmed by a
dependable source, that will be a first.
On July 5, the
Asus ROG Phone 6 will be publicly launched (a couple of
weeks from now).
