Apple fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming days, as the company has announced a new event for October 30 and released a major update for iOS 17.

Here are some of the top stories that you may have missed this week.

Apple’s ‘Scary Fast’ Event Will Showcase New Macs

Apple has sent out invites for a virtual event titled “Scary Fast” that will take place on October 30 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. The event is expected to focus on new Mac products, as the invite features an Apple logo that morphs into the Mac Finder icon.

According to rumors, Apple may introduce up to four new Macs powered by the M3 chip, which is reportedly based on the 3-nanometer process and offers significant performance and efficiency improvements over the M1 and M2 chips.

The new Macs may include a refreshed version of the 24-inch iMac, as well as new models of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 14-inch MacBook Pro, and 16-inch MacBook Pro.

The event may also reveal other surprises, such as new AirPods, a redesigned Mac mini, or even a preview of macOS Monterey, which is slated to launch later this year. You can watch the event live on Apple’s website, YouTube, or the Apple TV app.

iOS 17.2 Brings New Features and Bug Fixes

Apple has also released iOS 17.2, a major update for its mobile operating system that brings new features and bug fixes. Some of the highlights of iOS 17.2 include:

  • The Journal app, lets you create and organize notes, photos, videos, audio recordings, and more in a beautiful and intuitive interface.

  • iMessage sticker reactions, which let you express yourself with stickers that animate when you tap them. You can also create your own stickers from your photos and add effects like Shiny, Puffy, Comic, and Outline.

  • The Translate action, lets you translate text or speech from any app with a simple swipe. You can also access the Translate app from the Control Center or the Home Screen.

  • The Stage Manager feature on iPadOS 17.2, lets you control multiple apps on your iPad using gestures and keyboard shortcuts. You can also use Slide Over to quickly access your favorite apps or widgets.

iOS 17.2 also includes bug fixes and security updates, such as resolving an issue that may cause the iPhone to run warmer than expected, improving the reliability of Screen Time settings syncing across devices, and fixing an issue that may cause custom and purchased ringtones to not appear as options for your text tone.

You can update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 17.2 by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
